Poughkeepsie, NY: Carli-Rae and John Michael's Wedding
John Michael will always be grateful for the big snowstorm of 2013. It was when several feet of snow provided him with the opportunity to finally persuade the woman he’d been interested in for quite some time to go one another date with him. Carli Rae was the friend of his sister and although John Michael had taken her out once or twice before, the timing had never been quite right for it to become something more.
But this time, he knew it was different. When the storm prevented John Michael’s sister and Carli Rae from getting into the city the way they had planned, they asked him to drive them in. He was happy to oblige, on one condition - if he could take Carli Rae out on a date. She agreed and, to John Michael’s great relief, he was indeed right - that this time was different. They hit it off on that date and soon they were very much a couple. Three years later, he proposed.
This fall, they married on a bright, crisp Sepetmeber day surrounded by family and friends delighted to see this couple become husband and wife (especially John Michael's sister who essentially got to hand-pick her sister-in-law).
This is the first winter they'll spend as newlyweds and each snowstorm will serve as a reminder to them of the blizzard that ended up changing their lives and bringing them together.
