Gramercy Park Hotel: New York, NY: Katie & Mike's Wedding
As photographers, we know when and how to capture the big moments - they are the foundation of great wedding images and are a lot of fun to photograph. Often, we find, it’s the moments right before and right after that are just as magical and sometimes, even more so. Like the reaction just after the kiss during the ceremony, when the marriage license is officially signed, or the first dance went off without a hitch. We get excited when any of these moments has a particularly great reaction from a couple.
At Katie and Mike’s wedding, there was moment after moment like that, with each of them just bursting with happiness. Like when Mike saw Katie in her dress for the first time that day, or when she lifted her arms with joy after the first kiss and he looked down and admired the brand-new ring on his finger, and when they locked arms and cheered signing the license (not to mention their pretty incredible first dance).
This is a couple who have been so looking forward to becoming husband and wife that when the day finally arrived they embraced every single ounce of what they were feeling - they cried the happy tears, they gave the big hugs to the friends and family there to celebrate with them and, most importantly and frequently, they spread their complete and total euphoria with everyone in the room. Looking at how happy Katie and Mike are together, you can’t help but smile yourself.
